An Object-Oriented Interactive System for Scientific Simulations: Design and Applications
نویسنده
چکیده
Better insight in complex physical processes requires integration of scientific visualization and numerical simulation in a single interactive framework. This paper presents an object-oriented environment which combines the tasks of numerical simulation, visualization, simulation specification, run-time monitoring and steering. We first review the different existing approaches to the above tasks and outline their relative limitations. Next, we present a model for a framework which attempts to provide a general approach to the tasks of simulation specification and steering in an object-oriented manner. An implementation of the framework is described. We have built an object-oriented library for finite element computations and integrated it into the simulation system. An example in which our system has been used to solve a practical engineering problem illustrates the combination of objectoriented numerics and interactivity.

Declarative Semantics in Object-Oriented Software Development - A Taxonomy and Survey
One of the modern paradigms to develop an application is object oriented analysis and design. In this paradigm, there are several objects and each object plays some specific roles in applications. In an application, we must distinguish between procedural semantics and declarative semantics for their implementation in a specific programming language. For the procedural semantics, we can write a ...
متن کاملOn Attributes of Objects in Object-Oriented Software Analysis
One of the modern paradigms to develop a system is object oriented analysis and design. In this paradigm, there are several objects and each object plays some specific roles. There is a sequence of activities to develop an analysis model. In the first step, we work in developing an initial use case model. Then in the second step, they identify a number of concepts and build a glossary of partic...
متن کاملObjects Identification in Object-Oriented Software Development - A Taxonomy and Survey on Techniques
Analysis and design of object oriented is onemodern paradigms for developing a system. In this paradigm, there are several objects and each object plays some specific roles. Identifying objects (and classes) is one of the most important steps in the object-oriented paradigm. This paper makes a literature review over techniques to identify objects and then presents six taxonomies for them. The f...
متن کاملNext Generation Interactive Scientific Experimenting Based on the Workflow Technology
In this paper we explore to what extent the conventional workflow technology and service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles can be applied to support scientist in their experiments. Based on the requirements imposed on systems for scientific computing, e-Science and simulations, and an extended workflow life cycle we introduce the architecture of an interactive system that reuses the conven...
متن کاملA Component-Based, Object-Oriented Architecture and Design for Distributed Simulation Applications
We describe the architecture and design for the Distributed Mission Training Integrated Threat Environment (DMTITE) system. DMTITE supports the development and deployment of different types of computer generated actors (CGAs) in large-scale Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and High Level Architecture (HLA) based simulations. To address issues in software architecture, design, and protot...
